Hiii, my name is Margo :)
I’m scared of traffic, I only like plain sandwiches and I’m a pretty animated cat I would say.
I love dressing up and I like watching fish swim, nothing makes me feel more free than making music.
Really and truly my music is for the girls, for the crying and the ass shaking. To be understood, to be seen, to be celebrated.
I grew up on a ranch in Belgium, where my dad and I were always making music together. He loves flamingo guitar and is the best musician I’ve ever known. He introduced me to Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Patsy Cline and old school country artists like Wille Nelson.
This is my Dad, his name is Rik :)
I got into writing my own music in my teens. I would sing about the things I don’t understand or the things I wanted to say but didn’t, to understand myself, to understand love.
My parents then moved to California. I stayed in Belgium, finished home schooling and studied at the jazz academy at the time.
One day I told my sister I will give myself 2 weeks to move to London for music. I’ll be back if it doesn’t work out, I never came back.
I lived in a hostel for a while and worked in a bar, I thought I was living a dream. Everyone was so cool and the more unique u were the more it was celebrated. London showed me so much music. At this point I was into classical, jazz and flamingo guitar cz of my dad, but here people did so much more.
I live in South London now, South is my home. I have a studio in the basement of a pub and so do all my friends, it’s our HQ. We chill and make music, jam, record, goof around, talk about everything and nothing. My house is a 15 minute walk from the pub,
I loveeeeee dressing up !!!!! it’s the best !! expressing my self through fashion has always been a big passion of mine. 🤍 When creating looks for shows i usually try to channel the duality that is known though out my work, highly feminine, vulnerable, (lace long skirts but also strength like a warrior, fingerless gloves, rough fabric, rough edges)
it’s very important that all garments used in my project are good for the world !!! no fast fashion !!!
i’m always experimenting with new looks and ideas and concepts but always expressing myself through my style is key even if that means making an outfit from scratch the night before tour :)
I have help from my beautiful angel butterfly best friend Esme who works at the lion king as a costume designer, she is the best !!!!! together we often collaborate on the costumes !!
for the artwork look for this project Esme and i made a look representing submissive and dominant, it’s a celebration of women throughout history and of all faces
we also collaborated on the looks for the march tour
the looks for the october tour were all created by me, i wanted to step in the worlds of the places i was visiting
here are some work in progress looks for visuals etc
Here’s me and Esme!
I’m so incredibly proud of my work. I might have the record of the most amount of hours spent on a piano arrangement, finding the right kick or having 10+ demos for one song but that’s the beauty for me, searching to find the parts u didn’t look for in the first place. Hope u enjoy it :)
